Supervision Received:
Under the direct
supervision of the Regional Administrator II and indirect supervision of the
Director for Continuing Education.
Supervision Exercised:
Indirect supervision of unit recreation oversight staff in an assigned
region.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develops
specifications and assists with procurement and distribution of all recreation
and television repair equipment, materials, and supplies.
2. Coordinates
and schedules agency-wide Division Level Operational Reviews of craft shops and
recreation programs.
3. Audits
recreation and communication programs to ensure program effectiveness.
4. Directs
and monitors all unit recreational programs in an assigned region.
5. Monitors
unit recreation participation/status reports and assists recreation oversight
staff with recommended corrective action.
6. Serves
as the liaison between the Windham Recreation Department and Texas Correctional
Industries regarding craft shop activities.
7. Provides
technical guidance to unit staff that are assigned recreational and craft shop
oversight.
8. Assists
with the preparation of the regional recreation budget requests.
9. Recommends
recreation program guidelines, policies and procedures for review and approval.
10. Prepare
reports pertaining to recreation programs and activities.
11. Coordinates,
supervises, evaluates and initiates payment of all free world officials and
volunteers for programmed recreation activities.
12. Maintains
control of all fixed asset equipment within the recreation department.
13. Performs
duties in a professional manner through daily, punctual attendance at location
of work assignment.
14. Performs
all duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the
SBEC Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
15. Performs
other duties as assigned.
Education
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
from a college/university accredited by an organization recognized by the
Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) with a major in Physical
Education, Kinesiology or Recreation.
Three years full-time, wage earning experience in supervising a recreation
program.

acuity, speaking, repetitive hand motions, distinguishing colors, frequent
driving car/van, frequent travel by car/van, travel by airplane.
Environmental
Demands:

temperature extremes, noise, low or intense illumination, slippery/uneven
surfaces, radiant/electrical energy, working alone, working with others,
working around machines with moving parts and objects, possible biological
