Supervision Received:

 

Under the direct supervision of the Director for Continuing Education.

 

Supervision Exercised:

 

Direct supervision of the Program Secretary, Support Specialist, and indirect supervision of the Regional Continuing Education Coordinators and the Youthful Offender Grant Coordinator.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

       1.  Plans, directs, implements, and manages all administrative phases of the college academic and vocational programs available to offender students.

 

       2.  Provides training in policy and procedural matters relative to post-secondary programs.

 

       3.  Attends meetings and represents the Division of Continuing Education in matters pertaining to post-secondary programs.

 

       4.  Maintains and updates all booklets, pamphlets, brochures, and manuals for Post-Secondary programs as needed.

 

       5.  Contributes to the recommendation of sound policies for Continuing Education programs improvement. 

 

       6.  Develops program evaluation criteria for post-secondary programs.

 

       7.  Evaluates findings, including student achievement data, to examine effectiveness of college academic and vocational programs.

 

 

       8.  Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with colleges, universities, and unit personnel.

 

       9.  Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents related to the college academic and vocational programs.

         

     10.  Serves as liaison between the colleges and universities and Windham School District Personnel Department in processing the security clearance for post-secondary instructors.           

 

     11.  Maintains documents relating to the security clearance process of all post-secondary contracted personnel.       

 

     12.  Ensures that timely, updated security briefings are provided as required for contracted personnel.

 

     13.  Assists in compiling budgets and cost estimates for the post-secondary program based on documented program needs. 

 

     14.  Monitors the contracted funding account for each servicing post-secondary institution to ensure appropriate utilization of program funding.   

 

     15.  Evaluates contract-required reporting documents submitted by post-secondary institutions to ensure contract compliance.     

 

     16.  Manages and implements program activities relative to the mainframe PSER accounts to effect Education Department compliance with legislative requirements.

 

     17.  Evaluates job performance of employees to ensure effectiveness.

 

     18.  Performs duties in a professional manner through daily, punctual attendance at location of work assignment.

 

     19.  Performs all duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the SBEC Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.

 

     20.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Educational Requirements:

 

Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).  Seven years of full-time wage earning administrative experience in education or criminal justice.
