Supervision Received:
Under the direction of the principal(s) as
assigned.
Supervision Exercised:
May supervise activities of the Testing
Specialist or Testing Clerk at the discretion of the principal.
Duties and Responsibilities:
INSTRUCTIONAL 1. Assists in the placement of students in an
educational environment
MANAGEMENT most
conducive to their educational needs.
2. Maintains appropriate number of students per
class by identifying and placing students in appropriate programs.
3. Maintains status as General Educational
Diploma (GED) Examiner at all levels: Windham School District (WSD), Texas
Education Agency (TEA), General Education Diploma Testing Service (GEDTS).
4. Coordinates unit-testing program for GED,
educational achievement (E.A.) and vocational assessment.
5. Coordinates all counseling activities with
the unit principal.
6. Provides small groups, large groups, as well
as classroom guidance and counseling on unit.
7. Manages and maintains Career Resource Center
on unit.
8. Assists Career & Technology Education
(CTE) teachers with skills tests and final exams.

experiencing difficulty

for school and organizational climate.
11. Performs duties in a professional manner
through daily, punctual attendance at location of work assignment.

administrators to help teachers

provide staff development.
IMPROVEMENT
13. Develops long and short-range plans for a
counseling program based on needs of population served and the WSD Guidance
Plan.
PERSONNEL 14. Coordinates between teachers, other
counselors and/or
MANAGEMENT administrators
to serve students and provide orientation about school programs.
ADMINISTRATION 15. Complies with district policies in placement
of students.

STUDENT 16. Determines needs and directs the
dissemination of program

17. Assists in student referral to other
agencies.
18. Counsels students regarding educational
decisions.
19. Identifies and places students in appropriate
academic, vocational, and/or special programs.
20. Serves as representative of administration,
as appropriate, for Admission, Review and Dismissal committees and any other
committees determining student placement.

DUTIES
Educational Requirements:
Master's degree and a State Board for Educator
Certification (SBEC) Professional School Counselor Certificate or be eligible
for an Emergency Permit. Windham
experience is preferred. To be eligible
for an Emergency Permit, the following requirements must be met:
1. A
valid Texas SBEC teacher certificate at the level of assignment,
2. Twenty-four
semester hours of graduate-level credit, including twelve semester hours in
guidance and counseling; and
3. Three
years of classroom teaching experience PK-12.

possible Chemical exposure to fumes, vapors, possible irregular hours, noise,
possible exposure to microwaves in use.
