Supervision Received:

 

Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Superintendent.

 

Supervision Exercised:

 

Supervises employees of Continuing Education Department.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

INSTRUCTIONAL         1.   Develops and establishes program goals and objectives for

MANAGEMENT                  Continuing Education programs.

 

                                          2.   Prepares guidelines, procedures, and standards for the Continuing Education programs.

 

                                          3.   Develops and coordinates program evaluation activities.

 

                                          4.   Submits reports, attends meetings, and represents WSD in matters concerning Project RIO educational activities.

 

                                          5.   Supports and encourages the development and implementation of effective instructional programs to achieve identified needs.

 

                                          6.   Disseminates information throughout WSD on operational process and strategies of Continuing Education that enhance the coordinated academic/vocational instruction, college programs, Project RIO, communications, and recreation.

                                        14.    Identifies, analyzes, and applies the findings of external research to facilitate program improvement.

 

                                        15.    Facilitates effective and timely resolution of conflicts.

 

                                        16.    Assists staff in the planning and application of emerging technologies and the use of existing technology in the Continuing Education programs.

 

PERSONNEL                17.    Supervises the interviewing, selection, and orientation of new staff.

MANAGEMENT

                                        18.    Makes recommendations to the superintendent on the placement, transfer, and termination of Continuing Education employees.

 

                                        19.    Observes employee performance, records observations, and conducts evaluation conferences with staff.

 

                                        20.    Develops training options and/or improvement plans to ensure efficient operation of Continuing Education programs.

 

ADMINISTRATION   21.    Develops and proposes revisions of policies and procedures related AND FISCAL/                                           to Continuing Education.

FACILITIES

MANAGEMENT          22.    Directs and manages the budget for post-secondary, Project RIO, and recreation programs.

 

                                        23.    Compiles budget and cost estimates based upon documented program needs.

 

                                        24.    Demonstrates responsible fiscal control over assigned budget.

                                      25.     Coordinates with colleges and universities to determine course offerings, needed equipment and supplies for existing and new units.

 

                                      26.     Represents TDCJ and Windham School District in planning and negotiating contracts for services rendered for state and federal programs under the direction of Continuing Education.

           

                                      27.     Ensure compliance with state, federal, and agency regulations relating to departmental operations.

 

                                      28.     Ensures contract compliance for Continuing Education programs.

 

                                      29.     Researches, collects, and compiles data for special projects as assigned.

 

                                      30.     Serves as liaison between TDCJ, Continuing Education, and Windham School District.

 

STUDENT                    31.     Ensures that student services are effective in supporting the MANAGEMENT teaching/learning process.

 

SCHOOL                      32.     Establishes and maintains rapport between TDCJ, Texas Workforce COMMUNITY Commission, colleges and universities, and Windham School RELATIONS District.

 

                                      33.     Cooperates with wardens and appropriate personnel in matters concerning Continuing Education programs.

 

PROFESSIONAL        34.     Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner GROWTH AND as defined in the SBEC Code of Ethics for educators.

DEVELOPMENT

                                      35.     Develops needed professional skills appropriate to job assignments.

 

DISTRICT,                  36.     Contributes to the attainment of student performance targets of REGION, OR district.

CAMPUS                    

                                      37.     Demonstrates progress in meeting assigned action plans of the district or campus improvement plans.

 

OTHER                        38.     Performs other duties as assigned.

DUTIES

 

Educational Requirements:

 

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and ten years of full-time wage- earning administrative experience in education, corrections, or related field, or a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with five years of full-time wage-earning administrative experience in education, corrections, or related field.
