Education, Coordinator of Guidance and Testing, and others as assigned.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
INSTRUCTIONAL 1. Implements
a coordinated academic and vocational education
MANAGEMENT instructional program
specifically for offenders.
2. Involves the staff in developing,
maintaining, and revising curriculum documents based on systematic review and
analysis of needs.
3. Facilitates the use of existing technology
in the teaching/
learning
process.
4. Disseminates information throughout WSD on
instructional processes and strategies that are appropriate for adults and that
enhance the coordinated academic/vocational instruction for inmates.
5. Effectively involves instructional staff in
evaluating and developing instructional materials to meet student learning
needs.
6. Encourages and supports the development and
implementation of effective instructional programs to achieve identified needs.
7. Supervises the integration of academic and
career and technical education curriculums to meet the objectives of the
Secretary's Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS).

the purpose of instructional improvement.
18. Identifies, analyzes, and applies the
findings of external research to facilitate curricular and instructional
improvement.
19. Assists staff in the planning and
application of emerging technologies and the use of existing technology in the
Windham classroom.
20. Represents the Superintendent in the
planning of all professional in-services and secures outside consultants as
necessary.
PERSONNEL 21. Actively supports staff members' efforts to interact in a
MANAGEMENT positive, supportive,
cooperative way with employees.
22. Uses the Texas Teacher Appraisal System
(TTAS) appropriately with teachers as assigned.
23. Effectively uses the district's appraisal
system with other staff members supervised.
24. Participates in the selection of personnel.
ADMINISTRATION 25. Develops
and proposes revisions of policies and procedures
AND FISCAL/ related to instruction.
FACILITIES
MANAGEMENT 26. Implements
the policies established by federal and state law, state board of education
rule, and WSD board policy in the area(s) supervised.
27. Demonstrates responsible fiscal control over
assigned budget.
STUDENT 28. Ensures that student services are effective
in supporting the
MANAGEMENT teaching/learning process.
29. Collaborates with staff to increase success
of former offenders in obtaining and maintaining employment.
SCHOOL/ 30. Involves others from the community in
serving the school's
COMMUNITY program as volunteers.
RELATIONS
31. Effectively uses the district design for
articulating the district's instructional philosophy and curriculum
implementation strategies to the media.
32. Collaborates with staff to coordinate
educational programs and services in the department with those provided by
other state agencies, by political subdivisions, and by persons who provide
programs and services under contract.
PROFESSIONAL 33. Assists
in implementing curriculum training for new teachers
GROWTH AND and staff.
DEVELOPMENT
34. Coordinates the planning and delivery of
preservice and inservice training for instructional supervisors.
35. Utilizes information provided through formal
and informal assessment data to improve professional skills and knowledge.
36. Develops, uses, and evaluates ideas and/or
innovative approaches to improve his/her job performance.
37. Participates in professional organizations,
disseminates ideas and information to other professionals, and provides
leadership in identifying trends and opportunities, as well as solving problems
facing the profession.
38. Performs duties in a professional, ethical,
and responsible manner as defined in the SBEC Code of Ethics and Standard
Practices for Texas Educators.

Educational and
Experience Requirements:
Master's degree from an accredited university in a related field is required. Formal training in the delivery and design of curriculum/instructional programs is required. State Board for Educator Certification Mid-Management, Administrator, or Principal certificate, OR, seven years of administrative experience to include three years of experience in various instructional programs or program/teacher supervision.
